When creating template for the 20 page insert of the booklet seen above, I worked extremely hard using what I had learnt from my previous mistakes. I created a piece that followed the themes set out by the group and fit all the criteria asked for by Ambleside JFC and get constructive feedback on how to improve it from my peers. Although the group had always been welcoming, due to my lack of attendance and struggling to socialise with the group outside of doing the work, I felt like an outsider and struggled to have my voice heard. I emailed the template to the member of my team who was putting the booklet together and a few days later when we met up to finalise the project i found they had changed large parts of the work including the whole background and the text boxes through the design. This led to a series of confrontations where I felt it was unfair my work wasn’t being used despite the whole group agreeing it was better, both fitting the theme and in overall design. I stressed the point I thought my work was better and it ended up being chosen to be used in our final version which again helped me gain confidence in my work, but also helped me gain confidence in my ability to stand up for my work and not be afraid to say how I feel. This makes me feel more confident in being able to work in a professional setting because I’ve improved not just at taking criticism about my work, but also my ability to stand up for it when I know its good.
